Hello dear readers! (chea' like I have any readers, lol ;) ) Last night I was scouting the Perfect World Entertainment (PWE from here on) site to learn more about a new MMO i started playing recently called Battle of the Immortals. The game is awesome but needs alot of work at the time. But as I accidently click myself into the official PWE-page I start checking out their other MMOs. I've played Perfect World before and I knew they had some other games aswell. However one thing that caught my eye was a new Free-to-Play (F2P for short) game under development that's called Forsaken World. I checked out some videos on youtube, spent an hour reading tons of information and damn it! I want to play it!
Official Cinematic Trailer:
The graphics and design is amazing! As long as it isn't another grind-for-hours-because-you're-out-of-quests-mmo and it has some decent end-game content once it's done, it's going to steal my WoW addiction and make it into a FW addiction.
I'm just going to write about a few things the game offers and what I think seems cool. If you want details on the pretty awesome lore of the game you should check out the official site.
The game offers 5 sweet races:
- Stonemen - Big ass stone-creatures.
- Elves - The usual pretty creatures thats in many fantasy MMOs.
- Dwarves - Male dwarf looks awesome and brutal, while the female dwarfs is suprisingly cute.
- Humans - The most disliked-by-Mazzer race in all MMOs as it just feels so non-creative to play them
- Kindred - Which is basicly the result of a slutty demi-goddess and a human guy having unprotected sex.
They all look very nice in one way or another, but my favorite is probably male dwarf so far. To see more of the races in different classes check out this video: Character Creation in Forsaken World (Chinese Closed Beta) (embedding was disabled).
Forsaken World also offers 8 uniqe classes:
- Warrior: In FW it's a melee DPS class with heavy health. Can be played as Human or Elf.
- Protector: These guys will act as the main "tanking"-class of the game, with massive defence and HP. Can only be played as a Stoneman.
- Assassin: Another melee DPS class. Not much to say then that it's basicly a rogue. Played as Human or Kindred.
- Marksman: Long-range physical DPS class that can only be played as a Dwarf.
- Mage: Like in any other MMO it's a long-range magic DPS class. Played as Human or Kindred.
- Priest: The healing-class of the game. Low defence. Nothing unusual. Played as Human or Elf.
Now we get to the two most interesting classes in my opinion:
- Vampire: It's a mid-ranged class that uses it's own blood (its Health Points in technical terms) to damage the enemy or heal a friendly target. It seems like it's a medium DPS class with a couple of AoE-skills aswell as the possibility to heal teammates with the cost of their own life. It seems like a really fun class to play and that they have done some pretty fresh thinking on this one. More info in this topic about CB Vampire Skills. Can only be played as Kindred.
-Bard: The Bard is using the magical melodies they play on a harp to activate their skills. It seems like a nice combination of buffing and AoE-skills. In fact a Bard seems to be the main AoE-class of the game. It can bring several buffs to the party and should even be able to heal a bit. More information about the Bard-skills in this topic. Played as Elf.
Except for five races and eight classes, you have nine subclasses to chose from. This is a really cool feature in my opinion. I won't list them all but to give an example you can become a Tamer. Throughout the game you can recieve pets (any race or class can do this), but as a Tamer you have the ability to catch stronger and more special pets that others can't catch and tame (like rare elite-mobs and so on). Another cool subclass is a Socialite. A Socialite have two special abilities: Persuade and Coerce. These abilities lets you persuade NPCs into giving you quests that other non-socialites can not get a hold of. If you party with a Socialite you will recieve more XP and the rate of currency acquisition is increased.
For more information you should visit the official FW-site. If you want to know more of what the game looks like you can click here for a seach on YouTube. Also check out A Forsaken Journal which is a fan blog by some fellow Bogger-users.
That's it for me. Hope I didn't bore you too much. I will post a proper review of the game if I get into closed beta. Or maybe when open beta is out.
Until next time: wabble wabble wabble...
